If you are looking for a good starter fixie/single speed bike you will probably be happy with this one because of the price point.PROs: 1. price point 2. blank slate; get it in black, take off the stickers, make it your OWN 3. good quality frame (no I didn't say HIGH quality and no it's not super light but it's not bad)CONs: 1. crank: low end in that it probably won't tolerate abuse if you like to ride hard 2. brake levers: low end in that the parts are plastic but you get what you pay for right? 3. tires: low end in that you will be either sliming the tubes or lining the tires or replacing them at some pointCould you go online or to a local bike shop and get a really "cool" looking fixie? Sure you could. For this price? NO!My main goal: not too flashy of a bike because fixies ARE popular and seem to get stolen as much as a high end road bike.My END goal: upgrade to deep Vs; change out to bullhorn bars; add color to my blank slate with colored chain, bar wrap, etc. End up with a finished product that someone will want to steal but I will use my Ulock and cable to my advantage. It shipped in a box and was probably 75% put together. I would STRONGLY advise you take it to your local bike shop (unless you're a guru of bike building) and have it checked out. Well worth the $.Parting words: Having purchased a "walmart" bike in the past and owning a really nice stock Specialized road bike I can tell you this: skip walmart if you want a good commuter or fixie/single speed because this bike IS better.UDATE: I picked it up from my LBS and am happy to report that this bike rides like a dream. After I removed those odd stickers...I slapped some reflective red flame stickers on it, a red single speed chain, and a red bottle cage. I have already logged 30 miles (mostly commuting) and will indeed upgrade to a slightly better RED saddle and some Salsa red chili pepper grips. I love this bike! I'm 5'7", over 45/F...fyi and I ordered a 52cm. I ride a 54cm road bike. I wanted a tad smaller frame for commuting and have not regretted the decision.
